LG Display exhibits new OLED products

LG Display will showcase its latest advanced organic light-emitting diode (OLED) products at “Light+Building 2016,”.

The convention is a leading global trade fair for teechnology in lighting and building services, running March 13-18 in Frankfurt, Germany.

In a statement, LG said 11 OLED panels are on display along with four applications of the panels.

“LG is highlighting the key advantages of OLEDs, including the design flexibility that makes it suitable for different applications and venues, as well as its superior lighting quality which is close to natural light, thereby making people feel comfortable and reducing eye fatigue,” said Claire Ohm, a spokeswoman at LG Display.

The “Flexible Solutions Section” will exhibit the company’s flexible OLEDs, lightweight but durable.

“The main highlight in this section is an application using many 320-by-320 millimeters flexible panels,” said the release.

The “Transparent Connection Solution Section” will feature OLED panels which generate a floating light effect by attaching the panel to glass and providing power through a metal mesh transparent conductive film.

The mirror section will highlight LG’s efforts with OLED mirrors in various applications focusing on the business-to-business (B2B) segment.

The statement said when other light sources are used in mirrors, the mirrors tend to be too thick, whereas OLEDs keep the mirror thin which also minimizes glare.

The module section will display its slim OLED modules with a simple aluminum housing that connects multiple panels to each module, generating unique and sleek designs.

“LG Display is showcasing its module solutions in order to demonstrate how well OLEDs can be applied to interior design and architecture. It is committed to developing other solutions in order to encourage more people to use OLEDs,” said Ohm.

Additionally, it plans to exhibit a mock-up OLED tail lamp along with partner companies’ products using LG Display OLED panels.
