LUNARK is Made from Black Glossy Fiber Shell to Withstand the Moon

Space architects designed the LUNARK for living on the moon.

The modular origami tent is built to unfold into 750 times its size. SAGA, the Danish architecture studio behind the project, ensured that the design structure is easily transportable and has a zero-waste ecosystem.

Moreover, the team tested the tent to withstand arctic temperatures and meteor showers.

The architects took the tent on a test run in Greenland to ensure its warmth and stability. Its form was inspired by the patterns of a budding leaf and the precision of origami folding.

It unfolds from a tight bud into a large oval shape made from a rigid carbon fiber shell. The LUNARK exterior sandwiches panels with a foam core to create extra insulation while maintaining a light weight.
