Chipotle is Testing Chippy, an Autonomous Kitchen Assistant
Chippy is an autonomous kitchen assistant that’s being tested by Chipotle as a solution for fusing “culinary traditions with artificial intelligence to make tortilla chips.” Chipotle worked with Miso Robotics to customize the robotic innovation and adapt it for cooking and seasoning the tortilla chips.
With the help of this artificial intelligence solution, crew members at Chipotle are able to focus their time and attention on other tasks.
Chippy boasts the ability to replicate Chipotle’s exact recipe with corn masa flour, water and sunflower oil to perfectly cook chips, then season them with a sprinkling of salt and fresh lime juice.
Chippy is currently being tested at the Chipotle Cultivate Center in Irvine and it will be integrated into a Chipotle restaurant in Southern California later this year.
