Plastic bottle fabrics and other eco-conscious goods that utilize similar single-use materials are on the rise.
In a bid to create more sustainable production practices, brands like British textile company Camira are launching various collections that are intended to repurpose materials that were previously considered to be trash.
The newest venture by Camira is a collection of plastic bottle fabrics, dubbed the ‘Oceanic’ range. The company sources its materials from the Mediterranean sea and beaches as part of a collaboration with the SEAQUAL Initiative.
The organization looks to alleviate the stress on marine life by combating pollution. As a result, up to 50 percent of the fibers in Camira’s functional Oceanic range are made with upcycled plastic bottles.
